God knows how frail we are (Psalm 103 v 14). He knew that we would sin. So God provided one means by which we might still be rescued from death. He decreed that if a sinless person should die in the place of a sinner, then the sinner would be forgiven and saved from death. God loves those he has created so much that He sent His own Son to become a human being because He knew His Son was the only one who could live a sinless life. And when you saw Jesus die on the cross in the film The Passion of the Christ, that showed the moment at which a sinless man died for a sinner. And that sinner was you. And me. Because the life of Jesus (the son of God) was/is worth more than all the human lives He created, His innocent death on the cross is sufficient to pay the price (required by God) for all the sins of every person who has lived or whoever will live. So God set the high price, and God also paid it with the death of His own Son. That's how much He loves you and wants you with Him. Here is that famous verse again from the Bible:
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.2
So God gave His Son so that we might not perish but have all the wonderful things he has prepared for us.
